Alps Alpine Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6770; President & CEO: Toshihiro Kuriyama) will participate in Logis-Tech Tokyo 2022, one of the biggest logistics trade shows in Asia, to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from September 13 to 16. Alps Alpine will introduce solutions contributing to greater efficiency in the management of inventory, stagnation and loss data for logistics assets and other items and large reductions in asset procurement costs. The company will also exhibit its GNSS Tracker device that makes use of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) to provide position information.
Exhibits
Logistics Asset Transportation Status Visualization Service
A solution that aims to facilitate improvements to processes where congestion occurs due to pallets or other logistics assets not being returned and to fix asset shortages and surpluses. Long-life tracking devices achieving both environmental resistance and positioning accuracy are simply attached to pallets and roll cages to allow visualization of their location and movements and accurate tracking of asset movements even after entry to, or release from, warehouses. This helps to streamline management of logistics operations and reduce logistics costs.
On-Site Asset Location Management Service
A solution enabling accurate monitoring of the location of logistics assets to allow systematic production and improvements to the efficiency, and visualization, of inventory management to reduce loss and overconcentration of assets. By making it possible to locate logistics assets with high accuracy through visualization of assets – using tracking devices in the same way as in the Logistics Asset Transportation Status Visualization Service – and employing an original algorithm capable of simultaneous ToA/AoA* measurement, this solution helps to prevent delays in production schedules and shipments by reducing the time and hassle of looking for assets on logistics warehouse premises and enabling systematic implementation of operations on site.
GNSS Tracker
Alps Alpine will exhibit for the first time its GNSS Tracker, a device that wirelessly transmits position
information measured with multiple GNSS, such as GPS and Galileo, to a cloud server. A problem with
connected drive recorders and smart devices in the past has been the inability to provide a broad supply for
a wide range of vehicle types at an affordable price.
Developed for use in management of rental cars, commercial vehicles and other vehicle fleets, the GNSS Tracker is offered as a low-cost alternative to existing products, doing away with a drive recorder or other kind of camera as well as smart device-like display functions. The GNSS Tracker instead specializes in ascertaining position information.
Key features of the GNSS Tracker are a structure allowing easy retrofitting simply requiring connection of a power supply; built-in dead reckoning for ascertaining a position even in environments where a satellite signal is unavailable, like in a tunnel or underground; and use of an original algorithm for uploading only the bare minimum data to help reduce communication charges.
Alps Alpine looks to expand sales, targeting a wide range of corporations, with plans to produce several thousand units per month.
