Alps Alpine Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6770; President & CEO: Toshihiro Kuriyama) has been selected for inclusion in the FTSE Blossom Japan Index for the first time. The FTSE Blossom Japan Index measures the performance of Japanese companies meeting global standards for environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.
The FTSE Blossom Japan Index is a share price index developed by FTSE Russell, a unit within the London Stock Exchange Group. The index comprises Japanese companies demonstrating strong ESG practices and is used by investors around the world as a key benchmark for investment decisions with particular emphasis on ESG practices. Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund, charged with managing and investing the country’s public pension reserve fund, also employs the index when making ESG investment decisions.
Alps Alpine innovates value for humans and society on a brighter planet… With a view to realizing this corporate philosophy, Alps Alpine established a Sustainability Promotion Office and a Sustainability Promotion Committee in 2019 and has worked to strengthen ongoing ESG practices and bolster ESG-related disclosure. These activities satisfied FTSE Blossom Japan Index evaluation criteria, leading to the company’s inclusion in the index for the first time.
Alps Alpine will continue to respond to the expectations of all stakeholders, seeking resolutions to social issues through its business and higher corporate value.
