Alps Alpine Co., Ltd. (Tokyo: 6770; President & CEO: Toshihiro Kuriyama) will participate in the CEATEC 2020 Online exhibition to be held from Tuesday, October 20, 2020. The company will showcase new proposals for the next generation of automobiles, in particular its Digital Cabin lineup, and its latest solutions enabling deployment of the Internet of Things (IoT) across society, as well as a Touchless Control Panel and other products and technologies contributing to a New Normal.

At CEATEC 2020 Online, Alps Alpine will present two themes – “Emotion in Mobility” and “Toward a Safe and Secure Society” – exhibiting its latest offerings for the CASE domains (Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services, Electric), representing current major technology trends, and the IoT market, as well as products and technologies that will contribute to the New Normal and smart cities. In addition, the “ALPINE Brand Business” section will introduce new ideas from Alps Alpine Group company Alpine Electronics Marketing along with a range of products for the automotive aftermarket.

【Centerpiece Exhibits】
Digital Cabin (first time in Japan)
Alps Alpine creates a variety of input and output devices using core human-machine interface (HMI), sensor and connectivity technologies. In the Digital Cabin – a proposal for future mobility engaging the senses of all onboard, even behind the cockpit, to enrich a space of style and comfort – software processing for these features is performed using High-Performance Reference Architecture (HPRA), Alps Alpine’s own original integrated electronic control unit (ECU). The latest Alps Alpine technologies combine to deliver reassurance, comfort and emotion to everyone inside the cabin; for example, an e-mirror providing a peripheral view with dramatically reduced blind spots, next-generation input and output devices integrated into door trims, a large ceiling display, and sound zones that project sound individually to each person.

Touchless Control Panel (first time in Japan)
A touch panel that can be operated without making contact with a hand or finger. An original high-sensitivity capacitive sensor detects the presence of a hand from around 10 centimeters away. Non-contact operation of diverse controls according to the distance of the hand or finger to the sensor and the performance of gestures is enabled by an original ASIC and algorithm. This addresses the importance of hygiene considerations in medical and nursing care settings, as well as non-contact needs in day-to-day scenarios in public facilities or in the home when touching is undesirable, not possible or not allowed. It also helps to prevent transmission of diseases, including COVID-19.
