Alps Alpine in Numbers

In November of 1948, the Company was established under the name of Kataoka Electric Co., Ltd., in Yukigayaotsukamachi, Ota-ku, Tokyo, with 500,000 yen in capital and a total staff of 23 people. Following that, in December of 1964, the Company name was changed to Alps Electric Co., Ltd.
In May of 1967, Alps Motorola Inc. (the current Alpine Electronics Inc.) was established.
And then in January of 2019, Alps Electric and Alpine integrated their businesses to give birth to Alps Alpine Co., Ltd.

The Company’s sales reach 990.4 billion yen.
The breakdown of sales for each individual business segment is as shown in the graph. The main source of sales in the Components Segment is products for smartphones, while in the Mobility (Module and System) Segment it is products for automotive applications.

Sales of the Company’s products overseas account for 89.2% of the total. The United States, China, and Europe comprise our major sales regions. We conduct our business on a global scale, providing products and services to more than 5,000 around the world.

Alps Alpine has 28,693 employees, including those working for our group companies around the world. The ratio of employees by individual country is as shown in the graph. Japan accounts for 29.4% of the ratio of employees.

With the reelection of directors held in June, the ratio of independent outside directors has exceeded 50%.
At the meeting of the board of directors, in addition to deliberating and making decisions on important matters related to management, executive directors are entrusted with making decisions on important business execution matters. Also, the board of directors is positioned as an organization that inspects and supervises the situation of business execution, and that endeavors to strengthen the monitoring function.

We have declared that we will convert 100% of the electricity used in our operations to renewable energy by fiscal 2030. We have been actively introducing solar power generation facilities. In fiscal 2023, we invested in facilities equivalent to 7 MW, mainly at our domestic production plants, bringing our total generation capacity to approximately 18 MW. In fiscal 2024, we plan to introduce the system to our plants in Mexico and Malaysia.

The number of patents held by the entire group is 7,409.
Also, the number of new patents obtained in fiscal 2023 was 697, and we are continually filing for new patents every year.

In fiscal 2023, Alps Alpine invested 32.9 billion yen in R&D costs.
Through the generation of technology assets combined with the cloud domain in addition to our unique strengths in the integration of hardware and software, we are accelerating the development of new products that provide new values in “excitement ,” “safety,” and “environmental friendliness.”

Our company offers over 15,000 products. We serve a wide range of markets, including automotive, consumer electronics, and industrial equipment, addressing various challenges and needs to create products that enrich people’s lives.
