Alps Electric Renews Multi-Year License Agreement with Immersion Corporation
Alps Electric Co., Ltd. has renewed its multi-year license agreement with Immersion Corporation (San Jose, California, U.S.A.), a developer and licensor of force feedback technology, with aims to further explore the human-machine interface domain and to strengthen development of new kinds of input devices for automobiles.
Alps Electric signed a license agreement relating to force feedback technology for automotive input devices with Immersion in 2000 and has since developed, manufactured and marketed a variety of products. Immersion’s technology, which incorporates high-quality tactile effects and feedback into user interfaces and applications, is known for engaging users’ senses. Recently, it has been employed in a large number of automotive applications to enhance the operability of HVAC, on-board entertainment and other in-vehicle systems.
By renewing the multi-year license agreement, Alps Electric looks to continue efforts to accelerate and expand development of input devices for automobiles while bolstering its lineup of HMI products.
